An all-knowing God...

I was pondering this phrase which we hear so very often; of God being an "all-knowing" Being. I was thinking about the relation to the freedom of choice and how it could be explained that God is all-knowing and yet we still have the freedom to choose which way we will go.

In general the two seem to contradict themselves. We usually think of God being so all-knowing that he knows already what choices we are going to make, at least this is what my impression was -- until now!

In a previous post I said: "There was a point in the history of mankind where God seems to have changed His tactics by sending Jesus to earth which began a whole new age of salvation through the spirit."

Now some might be stumbled by me suggesting that God could change his tactics, or mod of operation. We thing of God as a constant because we always keep at the back of our minds the thought of Him being all-knowing -- and indeed He is!

However the other night I was thinking about this all and then it struck me...and this is simply as I understand it to be...

God knows everything in the sense that He knows all the options that there are to every situation which brings about a circumstance of choice. He knows every outcome and consequence of every choice that you could possible choose. He also has a plan for any situation and any choice you make.

He does not know what you are going to choose, and that is the way He intended it to be. The God-given freedom of choice is exactly that.....free 100% - no strings attached.

So the decisions we make all the time change a little part of history and in fact change the course of history, for better or for worse. God knows all the possibilities and all the options, and in that way there is nothing hid from His eyes.
